Isabel Marques Carreira graduated in Genetics in the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and received her PhD in Human Genetics in 1993, in the same University.
Isabel was appointed as a Medical Scientist in the Department of Human Genetics – Cytogenetics of the South African Institute for Medical Research in Johannesburg from 1985 to 1992.
She was then invited to come to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra to take the responsibility of the recently created laboratory of Cytogenetics.
She has been its Director since 1992 and until the end of 2008 there has been more than 40 000 prenatal and postnatal diagnosis done.
She has also been involved for the past 17 years, with teaching Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Isabel has recently been appointed the national coordinator for the European Cytogeneticists Association Register of Unbalanced Chromosome Aberrations.
Dr. Helena Donato graduated from the University of Coimbra and acquired her PhD in Library and Documentation in 1991 at the University of Coimbra.
Currently, Dr. Helena Donato is the Director of the Documentation Service in Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra (CHUC) and Assistant Professor at the University of Coimbra.
She is an Associate Editor of Ata Médica Portuguesa and Medical Consultant of many other medical Portuguese magazines.

Dr. Frederico Regateiro graduated as Medical Doctor from Universidade de Coimbra in 2004.

Dr. Luca Carenzo is a Critical Care Consultant currently working in Italy.
His humanitarian work includes helping in the trauma center in Yemen during the current civil war as a member of the Doctors without Borders team.
Specifically, his work in Yemen involved enduring critical conditions under security measures as well as withstanding active fires and blast injuries.
He obtained his medical degree from the Universitá del Piemonte Orientale in Novara, Italy in 2010 where he also completed his training in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
He completed a Master of Science in Disaster Medicine (European Master in Disaster Medicine).
After his training he completed a Trauma Critical Care Fellowship at the Royal London Hospital in London.
Additionally, Dr. Luca Carenzo has a particular interest in medical education and training with simulation, having co-created the Italian National Simulation competition (SIMCUP) as well as having helped develop a post-graduate program for incoming registrars at the Universitá del Piemonte.
