Some students may require a Visa to enter Portugal to participate in the VIII In4Med.
You can check if you need a Visa to enter Portugal here.
However, nearly all non-EU residents will need a Schengen Short-Stay Visa to visit Portugal. (Portugal is an EU Country State and a member state of the Schengen Area since 1995). This Visa will enable you to visit Portugal and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days.
To apply for a Visa you may require an Invitation Letter. Thus, the VIII In4Med will issue Invitation Letters to participants from countries requiring a visa to enter Portugal after registration and full payment of the congress fee.
You can fill out the form below to request an Invitation Letter until December 23rd 2018. After submission of the form, you will be contacted to complete your registration in the VIII In4Med.
All letters will be emailed as a signed PDF document to the provided email address.
If you have any questions, check the FAQs below or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or through our social networks.
We also recommend visiting the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for more information regarding Visas.
“Who should issue my Visa?”
If you are only visiting Portugal, your Visa should be issued by a Portuguese Embassy or Consulate.
If you intend to visit several Schengen countries, you should apply at the Consulate which is your first point of entry.
“Where should I apply?”
Applications should be filed in person at the Embassy or Consulate in whose jurisdiction you reside.
You can see where you should lodge your application here.
“How long will the process take?”
You can read about application deadlines here OR
Contact the nearest embassy or consulate to determine the appropriate timing of their visa applications.
Please note that:
The participants are responsible for their visa application and for contacting the relevant Portuguese Embassy or Consulate. The VIII In4Med only issues Invitation Letters and is not involved in any other way with the visa application process;
The participants should allow for sufficient time for the local Embassy to process their Visa;
The Invitation Letter issued by the Organising Committee of the VIII In4Med will only include the period of the Congress (21st-24th February 2019);
Letters will only be sent electronically to the email address provided by the participant. The Organising Committee of the VIII In4Med will not send Invitation Letters to embassies, neither by fax/email nor by separate post;
The Letter of Invitation does not financially obligate the VIII In4Med Organising Committee in any way, that is, the invitation is not a commitment on the part of the organisers to provide financial support to the participant;
All expenses incurred in relation to the Congress are the sole responsibility of the participant.
