Coimbra welcomes the X edition of the medical and scientific congress In4Med! Entirely organised by and for students, it reflects the wonder and uniqueness of our city.

On the banks of the Mondego River, Coimbra is famous for its University, the oldest in Portugal and classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. With more than 20 000 students, our University never ceases to, alongside its traditional values, grow and innovate.

History is written all over the city. From Quinta das Lágrimas, the setting of D. Pedro and Inês de Castro’s love story, the most beautiful and secret romance of all time, to Joanina Library, a splendid baroque-inspired library that leads us to the XVIII century, and the Botanical Garden, where its vastness allow us to travel the world without setting foot outside of the city, Coimbra never loses its beauty.

Finishing with an eternal and mellow allure, Fado, a longtime portuguese traditional, considered, in 2011, an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, holds a special place in this city. Coimbra’s Fado expresses the “saudade” ever-present in the hearts of those who had the chance to know this magical city.
